 The Biology Department at New Mexico Tech (located in Socorro, New Mexico) is currently seeking applicants for a Master's degree program set to begin in the Fall of 2023, under the guidance of the esteemed Duval Lab. This position provides a unique opportunity for students to select a thesis project within the broader scope of investigating how vegetation and microbial communities regulate greenhouse gas and elemental flux within western US riparian ecosystems under the influence of climate change. Funding for this exciting opportunity is expected to come through Teaching and Research Assistantships, based on the Department's budget.

Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate their experience in field ecology, including knowledge of soil and vegetation sampling, and a proficiency in operating 4x4 vehicles. Additionally, they should have completed upper-division coursework or have experience as a laboratory technician in both biology and chemistry. Candidates with outstanding performance in at least one upper-division undergraduate statistics course will be highly favored.
